Deck Construction Services Built Around Your Home

From a brand-new backyard deck to a full replacement of a tired old one — we plan, build and finish complete deck projects, including stairs, railings, privacy screens, pergolas and lighting, across the GTA.

New Deck Construction

The deck your new home is missing. We build from the ground up — footings, structural framing, decking, stairs, railings and finishing — so the result is one cohesive structure, not a patchwork of separate trades.

Every project starts with a free site assessment and a simple visualization of size, shape, stair placement and decking colour. Custom deck design is included with qualifying new construction, so you see the layout before you commit to it.

- Ground-level, raised & multi-level decks
- Built to Ontario Building Code requirements
- Stairs, landings & railings included in scope
- Custom deck design included with qualifying builds

Complete Deck Replacement

If your deck has soft boards, wobbly posts and rusted hardware, sanding and staining only hides the problem. We remove and dispose of the old structure entirely and build a new one — new footings, new framing, new decking.

A full replacement is the right move when the frame is 15–25 years old or was never built to code. You get a deck that's safe, level and covered by our 5-year workmanship warranty.

- Full demolition & disposal of the old deck
- New footings, framing, decking & stairs
- Upgrade to composite or PVC at the same time
- Covered by our 5-year workmanship warranty

Deck Modifications & Extensions

Love the location, hate the layout? We substantially rebuild existing decks — extend the footprint, change the height, relocate the stairs, add a second level or reconfigure the shape to fit how you actually use the space.

Before we propose changes, we inspect the existing structure. An existing frame is only reused after we confirm it's sound enough to support the new work.

- Extend size or add a second level
- Change height, shape or stair placement
- Tie new construction into the existing frame
- Inspection of existing structure before any work

Deck Resurfacing

When the frame is solid but the boards are done, resurfacing gives you a new deck surface without rebuilding the structure. We strip the old boards and install new pressure-treated, cedar or composite decking on your existing joists.

Resurfacing is available only after an on-site inspection confirms the posts, beams and joists are in acceptable condition. Our warranty covers the new decking we install; the existing structure is excluded. If we find hidden rot or weakened joists, we'll recommend a full replacement instead — we don't put new boards on a frame that won't hold them.

- New decking on an existing sound frame
- Upgrade from wood to composite
- On-site structural inspection required
- Warranty covers new decking installed by us

Aluminum & Glass Railing Systems

Railings are where a deck goes from "fine" to finished. Custom-fabricated aluminum and glass railing systems are our specialty: powder-coated aluminum never rusts or needs painting, and tempered glass panels keep the view open on raised decks and balconies.

We fabricate to your exact measurements and install to code-compliant heights and spacing. Wood railings are standard on pressure-treated and cedar decks; aluminum and glass are the upgrade that makes a composite deck look the part.

- Powder-coated aluminum — no rust, no repainting
- Tempered glass panels for open sightlines
- Custom fabricated to your deck's dimensions
- Code-compliant heights, spacing & strength

Pergolas, Privacy Screens & Lighting

A deck is only half the outdoor space. Pergolas add shade and structure, privacy screens block sightlines from neighbours on tight lots, and integrated LED lighting in the decking, stair risers and posts keeps the deck usable after dark.

All of these are designed into the project from the start — matched to your decking and railing colours — rather than bolted on afterwards.

- Pergolas & shade structures
- Aluminum or wood privacy screens
- Integrated deck, stair & post lighting
- Designed and installed as part of one project

What Our Clients Say About Our Work

We build more than decks — we build the part of the house you'll actually spend your summers on. Here's what homeowners across the GTA say about working with us.

“I recently hired frontline masters inc to replace my front porch balcony and install new railings, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, they were great with communication, establishing time lines, professional, friendly, and easy to work with. The crew showed up on time, kept the site clean, and paid great attention to detail throughout the project.

The finished balcony looks fantastic solid, beautifully finished, and exactly what I had envisioned. It’s clear they take real pride in their craftsmanship. I’ve already had neighbours compliment the work! I’d highly recommend front line masters inc to anyone looking for quality work and a team you can trust.  Before and after pictures, Couldn’t be happier!”

Matt Lancaster
Mississauga

“I recently hired Front Line Masters to replace all of the deck boards on my 25-year-old deck, and I couldn't be happier with the results.

My original plan was to have the existing deck sanded and stained, but Vadym recommended replacing the boards instead. It was the right recommendation, and I'm so glad I trusted his expertise.

From the beginning, Vadym was extremely responsive, provided competitive pricing, and took the time to answer all of my questions. I was impressed by his commitment to quality. He rejected boards that he didn't feel met his standards and went to another store to ensure he was using materials he was comfortable installinng.

He worked through extreme heat and rain to complete the project, always maintaining a professional attitude. He kept the work area very clean throughout the job and did a thorough cleanup at the end of each day.

The finished deck looks fantastic, and the craftsmanship is excellent. I am extremely happy with the final result and would highly recommend Front Line Masters to anyone looking for quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.”

Leah Di Domenico
Etobicoke

“Vadym was a true blessing.  He is very meticulous and a perfectionist with his work.  My husband and I are so impressed with his work ethics and   we would highly recommend him to anyone who wants quality work.  We will definitely hire him again for our future projects.  Choose Front Line Masters Inc.  You will not be disappointed.  Thank you so much Vadym!  We are so happy and love our new front porch!!!”

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers

We believe a smooth project starts with clear, honest communication. That's why we make it easy to understand how we work, what to expect, and how we handle the details. Below are the questions homeowners ask us most about deck projects.

How much does a custom deck cost, and how long does it take?

Cost depends on size, height, structural design, site conditions, decking material, stairs, railings and permit requirements — which is why we provide a free site assessment and a detailed estimate for your specific project rather than a generic price per square foot.

On timing, a straightforward deck usually takes about a week; larger custom projects can take several weeks. The final schedule depends on complexity, weather, material availability and municipal inspections.

Permit processing happens before construction starts.

What's the best decking material — is composite really better than wood?

It depends on your budget, the look you want and how much maintenance you're willing to do.

Pressure-treated wood is the most affordable, cedar gives a premium natural look, composite offers durability with almost no maintenance, and PVC provides maximum moisture resistance. Composite resists rot, cracking and splinters and never needs staining; wood costs less upfront and looks natural but needs periodic sealing or staining.

We help every client pick the option that fits their home and how they'll use the deck.

Do I need a permit, and can you handle the process?

In Toronto, a building permit is generally required when the finished deck surface is more than 24 inches above the adjacent ground; zoning requirements still apply to lower decks, and rules vary between GTA municipalities.

We can handle the whole process — coordinate drawings, submit the permit application, communicate with the municipality and attend required inspections through to final inspection.

Permit drawings, engineering and municipal fees are quoted separately from construction.

Do you offer deck design, and can railings, pergolas and lighting be included?

Yes to both.

A basic visualization — approximate size, shape, structure, stair placement and decking colour — is usually provided free during the estimate. Detailed custom design is available for complex projects and is included with qualifying new deck construction.

A complete project can include stairs, wood, aluminum or glass railing systems, privacy screens, pergolas and integrated deck and stair lighting, all within the agreed scope.

Electrical connections are completed by a licensed electrical contractor where required.

What warranty do you provide?

Qualifying new deck construction includes a 5-year workmanship warranty covering work completed by Front Line Masters.

Manufacturer warranties apply separately to eligible decking and railing materials.

For resurfacing projects, the warranty covers the new decking we install — the existing structure that's retained is excluded from structural warranty coverage.

From Free Estimate to Finished Deck — Our Simple Process

Finished decks, photographed from every angle — no renderings, no stock photos. Composite and wood decks with aluminum and glass railings, built for homes across the GTA.

01

Initial Consultation

It starts with a quick form or a call. We discuss the type of project, what you have in mind, approximate size, preferred materials, timeline and whether a permit is likely to be needed. Photos of the existing space help us give you a ballpark early.

02

Site Measurement & Free Estimate

We visit your property, take measurements, assess existing conditions — grade, access, the state of any existing structure — and prepare a free, detailed written estimate for your specific project.

03

Design & Project Approval

We agree on the structure, materials, decking colour, stairs, railings, scope of work and cost. For most builds we prepare a basic visualization; for complex projects, a detailed custom design. Once approved, you get a written confirmation with all the details in one place.

04

Drawings & Permit Coordination

If a permit is required, we arrange the drawings, submit the permit application and handle communication with the municipality — so you're not chasing paperwork.

05

Construction & Project Handover

We build the deck, coordinate any required municipal inspections, do a final quality check and full cleanup, then walk through the finished project with you to confirm it meets our standards and your expectations.
